A 21-year-old man fired gunshots near the president’s residence as he tried to breach security. The police fired back, seriously injuring him.

A young man who tried to breach White House security last year tried to do the same last evening.

Yesterday’s Shooting

The man, called Nasire Best, fired shots very close to the White House when President Trump was inside. The incident took place on Pennsylvania Avenue NW at approximately 6 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

Law enforcement officers responded immediately and fired several gunshots. Media reporters who were on the White House lawn reported hearing gunshots before being quickly ushered in by Secret Service officers.

In July last year, when the same man tried to force entry into the White House, the Secret Service arrested him. They then sent him for a mental assessment.

This is not the first person to fire gunshots around the president. Last month, a shooter breached security at a hotel lobby near the ballroom. President Trump was in that ballroom where the Correspondents’ Dinner was set to take place.

Unfortunately, in yesterday’s incident, one bystander was shot and injured. Meanwhile, the Secret Service shot and seriously injured the intruder. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and died.
