Police in Seattle say 3 people died and others sustained injuries last night in the middle of festivities. Among the people shot in Seattle was a 2-year-old child.
The shootings occurred in the last day of Seattle’s food festival, a celebration that takes place annually. Police did not immediately confirm if the shootings were random.
Nevertheless, Tyrone Davis, Seattle’s assistant Police Chief, insinuated that two suspects might have been involved in a scuffle. Hence, the incident mirrors another one in Louisiana, where two groups shot at each other in a mall.

Yesterday shooting in Seattle took place in the Seattle Center, where the annual Seattle food festival takes place every year. The venue is next to the Space Needle, a 605-feet-tall tower that is among Washington’s greatest attractions.
The festival, dubbed Bite of Seattle, was just about to end when the shooting started. People ran into the Space Needle for safety as first responders rushed four people to hospital with injuries.
Washington’s Governor, Bob Ferguson, sent a sympathy message to all the affected families via social media. The same case with Seattle’s Congresswoman, Pramila Jayapal.
While sympathizing with the victims, Mayor Katie Wilson thanked the police for responding swiftly to the incident. She was happy that the police managed to apprehend one suspect and put him in custody.
About the Seattle Food Festival
This year’s Bite of Seattle was the 41st since it started. It began on 24th July and was set to end yesterday evening, before it was sadly interrupted by the shootout.
The next Bite of Seattle is scheduled for July 24 to July 26, 2027, with the venue remaining the same. This food festival always takes place at the Seattle Center.
The festivities begin at 11 a. m. and end at 8 p. m. for each of the three days. Also, entry is free for everyone.
The festival gives business people and other stakeholders an opportunity to display and sample different foods. It is an opportunity for locals to socialize and exchange ideas even with regional business people.
This year, the Seattle Center collaborated with FoodieLand to bring together over 300 businesses in the food industry. Hence, not only did retailers sell food, but beverage makers availed beer and wine for tasting.
In addition, attendees enjoyed entertainment from different music artists. This year, there were over 50 of them in attendance.
