The Ugandan Paris Embassy has begun an initiative to promote Uganda. The initiative to promote Ugandan tourism started this week, and it is set to take two weeks.
Speaking during the initiative launch, Uganda’s ambassador to France, Ms. Doreen Amule, explained the logic behind the tourism initiative.
She pointed out that being Summer in France, Paris receives very many tourists. Hence, Uganda is trying to catch the attention of those visitors to inform them about Uganda’s attractions.
How the Ugandan Paris Embassy is Attracting Attention
Uganda is sending out branded buses to traverse the French capital and beyond. Moreover, these Ugandan branded buses are set to travel 200 sq. km each day, highlighting Uganda’s attractive features.
Uganda’s tourist attractions covered in the branding include the mountain gorillas, the snow-capped mountains, the animal-rich savannas, and more.
Since France leads the world as a tourist destination, Uganda finds tapping into its tourist market a great idea. Uganda is aware that capturing even a fraction of France’s tourists would be a big economic boost for Uganda.
Uganda’s Tourism Promotion Receives Support
A number of high ranking African officials were on hand to support Uganda’s initiative. One of them was Ambassador Charles Ssentongo, who represented Uganda’s Foreign Ministry.
Another one was Dr. Irene Nsenza, Zimbabwe’s UNESCO ambassador, who is also ambassador to France.
The support of Dr. Nzensa of Zimbabwe underlines the importance of African countries supporting each other. According to Dr. Nzensa, Africans benefit immensely when visitors come into the country. The visits boost businesses and enhance employment.
If African countries continue to support one another as in this case of Uganda’s tourism Promotion initiative, antagonistic divisions might dissipate.
Ugandan Paris Embassy Hopes to Increase Tourist Numbers
By having the Ugandan branded buses move around in France, the Ugandan embassy hopes to attract more tourists into Uganda. Currently, the number of tourists visiting Uganda from France and neighboring Portugal and Spain are around 7,400.
According to Ambassador Amule, the embassy anticipates that Uganda will receive more tourists from the region next year. Specifically, the Ugandan French embassy targets 10,000 tourists from France, Portugal and Spain.
