Heavy storms hit the US city of Chicago last night, Tuesday, the 14th. The downpour became intense in the late hours of the night and took everyone by surprise. It was gauged at over 2 inches in no time.

Affected Areas

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports, was flooded and among the most affected places. With the heavy storms, some flights had to be canceled.

Motorists could be seen driving through flooded roads. People also reported flooding in homes, especially in basements.

Experts say that the amount of rain expected in half of the month fell in a single day. Incidentally, they expect more rain, even on Wednesday.

Last night, the city skies were marked with incessant lightning. It is said that the rains resulted from strong winds moving through the Central United States and heading northeast.

Meanwhile, the Great Lakes were not spared. Their flooding, impacted by 3 to 5 inches of rain, has affected the surrounding areas. The city of Milwaukee, which borders Lake Michigan, had vehicles submerged, and residents had to call 911 for help.
