Millicent Omanga is no longer a government appointee.
Millicent Omanga, who was previously a member of the Kenya Shipyards Board, has now been removed. She was appointed to that position in January 2025 by Cabinet Secretary (CS), Soipan Tuya of the Ministry of Defense.
This time, the CS has revoked that appointment after slightly more than a year. Omanga’s tenure was officially supposed to last three years, starting on 14th January 2025.
Ms. Omanga is Now Aligned with DCP
In the past few months, Millicent Omanga has declared her support for the former Vice-President, who fell out with President Ruto barely a year into office. She has been empathetic to the party he leads, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP)
Two years after the 2022 general elections, Members of Parliament were whipped into turning against Rigathi Gachagua. There were allegations of widespread bribery that led to the passing of a motion of no confidence against the deputy.
As is evident in virtually every Kenyan regime, betrayal is the order of the day. The cabinet is rarely reshuffled based on performance; it is normally due to betrayals.
Rigathi has since ditched President Ruto’s UDA Party and formed the DCP. He intends to vie for the country’s top leadership under the party in 2027.
