Today is the funeral of Mrs. Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, who died at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on 29th April 2026. She was 81 years old, having been born in 1944.
A well-attended memorial service was held yesterday at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Upperhill. Many leaders were present, including many from the political opposition.
Notable was the absence of political speeches, as Richard Onyonka’s colleagues gave their condolences in church. Speakers adhered to the instructions given by the Catholic leadership.
Mrs. Teresia’s Funeral
Bishop Joseph Mairura led the funeral ceremony today, held at Mosocho, Kisii. He had a big team of Catholic priests and seminarians with him.
Also present to honour Mrs. Teresia, who is survived by 9 children, were nuns and catechists. Today, too, many politicians arrived in Kisii to bid farewell to Richard Onyonka’s mother.
Among the senior politicians present were Martha Karua, who was accorded a special chance to console the family, before she left to attend to an urgent matter.
Others include former Chief Justice David Maraga, Fred Matiang’i, Eugene Wamalwa, Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Winnie Odinga, Ruth Odinga, and many others.
Everyone who spoke had great things to say about the late Mrs.Teresia Nyaboke and her firstborn son, Richard Onyonka.
At the time of publishing this report, the funeral ceremony was still ongoing. Meanwhile, family and friends are still mourning with the family of the late Rev. Daniel Kamau Nderitu.
May Mrs. Teresia Nyoboke’s soul rest in eternal peace.
