Yesterday, 5th June 2026, Kenya’s President William Ruto promoted Brigadier Mohamud Farah. Brigadier Farah has been the Laikipia Air Base Commander since July 2022.

Brigadier Mohamud Salah Farah is now the Deputy Air Force Commander. He deputizes Major General Bernard Waliaula, whom President Ruto appointed to the top office in June 2025.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya’s 4th President, promoted Salah Farah to the rank of Brigadier in 2022, just before appointing him the Laikipia Airbase Commander.

Before being in charge of the airbase, Mohamud Salah Farah was the ACE commandant at the base. ACE stands for Aviation Center of Excellence.

Brigadier Farah comes from Mandera in northern Kenya. Congratulating him on his new appointment, Ambassador Abdi Dubat, CBS, hailed him as a dedicated and disciplined officer with a distinguished career.

The leadership of Kenya’s Defense Forces has people from all ethnic backgrounds. In May 2024, President Ruto appointed Lieutenant General Charles Kahariri the country’s Chief of Defense Forces.
