Donald Trump’s legal team has so far managed to keep his presidential candidacy alive. Three states have barred their respective electoral boards from including Trump’s name on the ballot for Presidential primaries. These are Colorado, Maine and Illinois.

However, Trump’s lawyers have lodged appeals to the Supreme Court, and so, Trump remains on the ballot hoping for a favorable outcome. If he wins the appeal, he is likely to become the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election. For now, he has a rival in the person of Nikki Hailey, who served as US Ambassador to the UN when he was president.

Nikki Hailey Bags a Significant Win!

Hailey has just won the Republican primary in Washington DC., a feat no other woman candidate has ever managed under the GOP.

Carly Fiorina, who ran in the primaries in 2016 alongside Donald Trump, bowed out of the presidential nomination race early in the year after experiencing poor results.

Trump Hopes to Remain a Candidate in Illinois

Illinois was the third state to challenge the fitness of Donald J. Trump as a Presidential candidate, on the grounds that Congress has indicted him for his role in the January 6th 2021 insurrection that took place at Capitol Hill. Nevertheless, Trump still hopes to become America’s 47th president and serve for a second term.

Trump served as America’s 45th President from 2017 to 2021, but President Biden defeated him in the 2020 elections to become the 46th US President. Biden had served as Vice-President to President Barrack Obama for two terms: 2009 to 2017.

If he wins a second term, he will be 86 years old when his tenure comes to an end. This should make him the oldest US President so far, and by a big margin. President Ronald Reagan, the next oldest, was a month short of 78 years when he left office.
