The 2026 London Wireless Festival will not take place. This is because Kanye West, who was to headline the series of events, is no longer allowed to participate. The UK government has refused him entry to the country by canceling his visa.
West, an American A-List hip-hop star, was the key participant in the UK Summer Festival scheduled for July 10th to 12th, 2026. The festival was scheduled to take place at Finsbury Park, but it has now been canceled.
Kanye West’s earlier Visa application had been successful, and the government only revoked it after complaints from the UK Jewish community.
West, the ex-husband of the American socialite Kim Kardashian, is haunted by his past anti-Semitic remarks. Back home, he has often been at loggerheads with the American Jewish Committee (AJC) for making remarks that are not only hurtful but also racially prejudiced against Jews.
Kanye’s Past Controversial Remarks
In 2022, Adidas terminated a $1.5 billion deal with West because of several anti-Semitic remarks he had publicly made.
In 2025, Kanye, who now goes by the name “Ye”, posted on social media, “I’m a Nazi”, and other such provocative remarks. He even added that although he had Jewish friends, he did not trust them.
Later in the year, West composed and released a music video titled “Heil Hitler”, which seemed to praise the German dictator who caused the deaths of around 6 million Jews in the 1940s.
There were other incidents in which West seemed to provoke the Jewish fraternity, but every time he apologized.
What the Wireless Festival is About
The Wireless Festival is a music event that mostly celebrates rap and hip-hop and is held in London every year. It debuted in 2005, but at the time, its focus was on rock and pop music. However, there are times that the festival features other contemporary and urban genres.
Asked by the media about West’s visa cancellation, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed surprise that the festival organizers had even dared to invite him.
The UK Home Office said in a statement that Kanye West’s presence in the UK would have gone against the public good.
A vibrant debate has been going on in the UK since West announced his planned UK performance, and tickets were officially going to be on sale starting this week. For anyone who had secured tickets in advance, the organizers assured them they would have their money refunded.
