2 days after Joseph Kent resigned as the Director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI allegedly opened an investigation into him.
After his resignation, Kent told media personality Tucker Carlson in an interview that he and US President Donald Trump had differed on the US position on the war with Iran.
Pressure from Israeli Lobbyists in the US
It may be true that Israeli lobbyists in the US contributed to Trump’s decision to start the war against Iran on 28th February 2026. Now that Kent has resigned and said that the war decision was not warranted, an Israeli lobby group, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), has weighed in on Kent’s case, saying that the reasons given for resigning have some anti-Semitic rhetoric.
The apparent witch hunt on Kent may deter other senior government officials from giving the President divergent views regarding the ongoing war. Regarding the said FBI investigation, Kent expressed surprise, saying he had what he considered a “great” discussion with the President on his decision to resign, and that the two were on good terms when he left.
