Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, says Iran is set to continue fighting the war that Israel and the US started two weeks ago. He asserts that at no time has Iran requested a ceasefire.

The minister said this in response to Trump’s statement over the weekend that the US had turned down discussions for a ceasefire proposed by Iran.

Iran Calls Trump a Big Liar

Apparently, the US President is prone to lying. A few days before the US-Israel aggression, Esmail Baghaei, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, called Trump a big liar, after the president told Americans that Iran had re-launched a nuclear weapon program.

It is now apparent that the “disinformation and misinformation,” as Baghaei termed it, was meant to prepare the world for the impending attack on Iran psychologically.

Trump Urges Other Countries to Get Involved

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has requested that Britain, France, and other countries send warships to the Gulf to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. He says their presence would ensure the area is safe for all vessels at sea.

However, observers see a concerned Trump, one overwhelmed by the war. It is also clear that the restricted flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz is driving up global oil prices. Increased oil prices in the US can heighten domestic pressure on the president to end the war prematurely, which he would not like to contemplate.

Iran has made it clear it will continue to target assets of any country facilitating US and Israeli attacks against Iran, even as it launches direct counterattacks against the US, and what it calls the “zionist regime” of Benjamin Netanyahu.

Last week, a US sea tanker was set ablaze when two boats carrying explosives deliberately rammed into it at an Iraqi Seaport.
