US war aircraft fueling (Photo by the US Defense Department)

This week, a KC-135 plane was seen landing in Israel with a damaged tail. The refueling tanker was one of two US planes that were damaged in the ongoing war between the US and Israel on one side against Iran.

The other aircraft, which was also an aerial refueling tanker, crashed in Western Iraq and killed all the six people on board.

Already one US serviceman has been killed in Saudi Arabia in this war, and six others in Kuwait. Therefore, the official number of US servicemen killed in the war zone since last week is 13.

This information has been confirmed by the US Central Command (CentCom), the organization managing US activities in the Middle East.

The ongoing war under what President Trump termed “Operation Epic Fury”, has cost the US many casualties. Before this most recent aircraft incident, the Pentagon had put the figure of injured service members to around 140, with eight of them being seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ohio, USA, Mike DeWine, offered condolences to the families of those involved in the accident, disclosing that three among the dead servicemen were from Ohio.

It is said that the KC-135 aircraft the US has been using for aerial refueling for around 60 years now, normally does not have parachutes. This makes it difficult for crew members to escape while airborne.
