On February 17, 2023, Karachi, Pakistan, was shaken by a series of attacks that left at least 15 people dead and many others injured. The attacks were carried out in different parts of the city, including one on police officers and several others targeting civilians.

Taliban Terrorists Attack Police Chief’s Office in Pakistan’s Karachi

The first attack happened in the night when a group of militants targeted a police checkpoint. Terrorists from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Party stormed the Karachi Police Office (KPO) on Friday, which is located on Karachi’s main artery, Shahrae Faisal.

The attack triggered an hour-long siege during which time security forces combed floor-by-floor, an operation that saw all the attackers killed. Unfortunately, four security officials and some civilians were also killed in the melee, and more than 19 people injured.

The terrorists attacked the KPO from its main gate, then lobbed grenades and stormed the building. They were initially believed to be 6 – 10 terrorists by the officials. The police, Rangers and Army Commandoes did joint operations simultaneously. The operation lasted for 3 hours killing 3 terrorists, and one terrorist detonated his suicide vest. Now, all five floors of the KPO cleared, search operation has been launched. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Party has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A robber was killed by a mob in Karachi

A robber was killed by a mob in the provincial capital’s Orangi Town Sector 11 on 17th February 2023.Two of the robber’s accomplices managed to flee. The police have begun the process of apprehending the fugitives. Rakib, 25, was identified as the deceased robber, and the weapon and motorcycle recovered from him were seized by police.

In joint operation, Rangers and police arrested the suspects involved in robberies and street crimes in Karachi.In a joint operation by Rangers and police, the accused Noman was apprehended in Karachi’s Lasbela area for committing dangerous crimes such as robbery and street crimes.According to Rangers spokesman Bilal Naseer, the accused Noman is a member of the Taju group of the Layari gang war and has previously been imprisoned.

A toddler dies from gunshot wounds

A two-year-old toddler who was shot during aerial shooting at a popular eatery near the Bilawal House crossroads in Clifton on Sunday died in a private hospital, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The Pakistani authorities have condemned the attacks and launched a massive manhunt to track down the culprits behind the attacks. The police have arrested several suspects and launched a thorough investigation into the incidents.
